Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. One of the first things he did is to help his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on an Eufala farm. A second reason was Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded a scholarship for the third season in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in college. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started a business career. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 youths of the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he played for the team of 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
