Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a low-income family, with twelve kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from her hardships through a imaginative mind. Before she learned to write and read, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. In 8 years, she got her first guitar. At age 11 she started singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the same the year that Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. As a student in high school She made her mark in the local community, yet she yearned for a larger stage. The singer moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. The first charting record she had with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to join his syndicated show at this point. Parton got her first gig in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Parton left the show however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton composed "I will Always Be Loving You" to Wagoner shortly after they separated. The song was ranked number. 1 for the first time in 1974.
