Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She's co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family when she was the age of 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. She was the first student non-UK to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. A conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she became a voice of the Huffington Post. Her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna's fame was first noticed in 2003 when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote in order to replace Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna also spearheaded the Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient automobiles. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most important woman" in the media industry and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL Inc. appointed her President of their media division in 2011 after they acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included the other AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list or Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter of Konstantinos a management advisor and journalist. While she enjoyed a strong friendship with both of her parents and father, it was their relationship that helped shape her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. At 16 years of age she emigrated to the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the colleges debating societies, where she eventually became its first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Masters in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and a television host. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began writing her own books with his assistance.
