The site hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of the depictions of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that investigates representations of women in popular culture narratives. In addition, she works to bring awareness to sexual harassment and attacks on women, as well as other minorities, she is determined to break the stereotypes prevalent in pop culture. Sarkeesian, who has the degree of Master's in Political and Social Thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a sought after public speaking. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the university.
